A Japanese triathlete who was preparing for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris died after a fall in training, Wednesday in Saint-Cyr-en-Val (Loiret), announced Thursday the prosecutor of the Republic of Orleans, Emmanuelle Bochenek-Puren .

If the prosecution did not wish to confirm the identity of the triathlete, according to World Triathlon, the International Triathlon Federation based in Lausanne, the deceased athlete is Tsudoi Miyazaki, who was training in France after a World Cup event. in Spain.

According to the prosecution, the 25-year-old victim was riding with two other cyclists from the Japan team, when "she suddenly fell, deporting to the opposite lane" as another vehicle passed.

Despite the intervention of the emergency services, the young woman died, indicates the prosecutor.

The prosecution has opened an investigation, entrusted to the national gendarmerie, for manslaughter in order to determine the circumstances of the accident.

“The first screenings carried out on the driver of the vehicle involved, a man of German nationality residing in France, are negative”, specifies the magistrate in a press release, while an autopsy was requested.
