Since Henrik Stenson announced just over a week ago that he will play the LIV tour, the golfer has been strongly questioned.

He has lost one of his biggest sponsors and has been stripped of the Ryders Cup captaincy.

On Thursday, Stenson attended a press conference ahead of his first competition, which begins tomorrow and will be held at former US President Donald Trump's golf course in New Jersey.

There, he was asked, among other things, whether he was aware that the decision to accept LIV would mean that he would be deprived of the captain's role in the Ryders Cup.

- We had several discussions and I told them that I would play the LIV tour.

After a short period I was told that I would be removed.

So of course I'm disappointed.

But it is what it is, now it's just a matter of moving on, says Stenson.
