Bayern Munich signs a 16-year-old “smart, talented and strong” Moroccan player
Bayern Munich announced today, Thursday, the signing of 16-year-old Moroccan Adam Azno, the left-back of Barcelona, a few days after the signing of Matisse Thiel (17 years).
Bayern, the record holder for the number of Bundesliga wins, is working to strengthen its ranks with the most prominent young talents in the world, but while Frenchman Thiel will train with the first team, Azno is expected to join the youth team initially.
Bayern said in a statement today, Thursday, that it had signed Azno "on a long-term contract."
In the future, Azno may compete with Alfonso Davies for the left-back position at the Bavarian club.
"Adam is a talented left-back with a lot of attacking tendency, he's smart, technically skilled, strong, and passes well," said Bayern Munich youth director Jochen Sauer.
Azno, who comes from a Moroccan family, is scheduled to move to a school in Munich.
"I am very happy about this transfer and enabling me to continue my education at this great club," Azno said.
