Barcelona sign Conde for 55 million euros
Barcelona announced on Thursday that it had reached a preliminary agreement to sign French international defender Jules Conde from Sevilla.
The club did not disclose financial details, but media reported that Barcelona would pay 55 million euros ($55.82 million) for the services of the 23-year-old central defender.
"The final contracting procedures with the player will depend on him passing a medical examination and agreeing to the terms of the contract," Barcelona said in a statement.
Chelsea sought out Conde several times in the transfer window last year, and it was reported that he was close to joining the Premier League club this month before Barcelona secured his services.
Barcelona, who also beat Chelsea by signing Brazilian winger Rafinha from Leeds United earlier this month, finished second in La Liga last season.
