Many of Alessia Russo's teammates were disappointed and thought it was over when she missed the first shot.

Then came the real shock when Russo instead heeled the ball between the legs of Hedvig Lindahl.

- I remember yelling at her because she should have scored in the first position.

But then she made up for it.

It was filthy.

Very dirty, says Georgia Stanway.

- Unbelievable!

I jumped up and down like everyone else because it was absolutely incredible, says Ellen White.

- I just thought: "Never in my life!"

Every kid dreams of doing something like that, says Lauren Hemp.

Lindahl: "Terrible to let in"

Alessia Russo has been substituted in every game so far in the tournament and has accounted for four goals and one assist.

What the 23-year-old has meant to England is something highlighted by her team-mates.

- I have no words for that goal, it's ridiculous!

To do it in a European Championship semi-final against top opposition.

It's scary how good she is and will be, says Rachel Daly.

Even Hedvig Lindahl could see the greatness of the goal in retrospect.

- I think she surprised everyone with that goal.

It was quick thinking of her.

It's a terrible goal to concede, it's very embarrassing.

But it was very well done by her.

Sometimes you just have to applaud such things.
