The Qatari Ministry of Justice said that trading in tickets for the 2022 World Cup matches the owner of a large financial fine, according to the law organizing the tournament hosted by Qatar at the end of this year.

The ministry published a video clip through its accounts on the social networking sites to educate the holders of World Cup tickets against illegally dealing with match tickets.

The law punishes with a fine of no more than 250,000 riyals whoever issues, sells, resells, or exchanges tickets without a license from FIFA, in accordance with Law No. (10) of 2021 regarding the measures to host the World Cup # Justice_Qatar # Legal_Awareness # Our Life pic.twitter.com/ KecCvQK7Pz

The ministry said that "anyone who issues, sells, resells or exchanges tickets without a license from FIFA" is subject to a fine of up to 250,000 Qatari riyals, equivalent to about 69,000 dollars.

The ministry explained that the penalty came "in accordance with Law No. (10) of 2021 regarding measures to host the World Cup."

The International Football Association (FIFA) oversees the sale of tickets for the 2022 World Cup, and opened the door to purchase tickets through the lottery system or direct sales, and more than 1.8 million tickets were sold in light of an unprecedented demand for an opportunity to watch the World Cup matches.

Qatar will host the World Cup matches from November 21 to December 18.
