The Dutch Marianne Vos, who arrived in second position on Sunday on the Champs-Élysées, won the 2nd stage of the women's Tour de France on Monday.

The 35-year-old runner won the yellow jersey at the same time.

The day's route linked Meaux to Provins for a distance of 136.4 km.

After her second place the day before, the three-time world champion (2006, 2012 and 2013) further extended her record by beating the Italian Silvia Persico and the Polish Katarzyna Niewiadoma, respectively 2nd and 3rd in the stage.

Marta Cavalli, one of the contenders for victory on Monday, suffered a violent fall.

The day's route linked Meaux to Provins in Seine-et-Marne for a distance of just over 136km.
