The Dubai Sports Council and the Football Association announced the organization of the first edition of the Dubai Open Championship for Football Academies, as part of the integration of efforts between the two parties to develop work in various fields, especially in the development of the junior sector in Dubai clubs and the private sector.

A press release stated: “The new tournament represents an important addition to the youth sector and football academies in Dubai, and will be organized during the period from October 2022 to March 2023, for age groups (8-9-10-12-14-16-18 years) boys and girls, This is in cooperation with Inspiratus (ISD), which hosts matches at Dubai Sports City stadiums, and Delta Sports Events Company (Delta). Football, which was held in Dubai Sports City, achieved great technical success and contributed to the increase in the number of academies in Dubai and the emergence of promising emerging football talents.

It was announced the possibility of participating in the upcoming tournament for the academies of Dubai clubs and private sports academies licensed in the Emirate of Dubai, as well as the participation of clubs and academies belonging to the third and second classes in the competitions of the Emirates Football Association, where the tournament will attract the participation of more than 2,000 players per week from more than 100 teams in different countries. Age groups representing 40 accredited football academies.

The tournament aims to motivate sports academies to develop their technical programs, ensure the continuity of their activities and license them from the Council and the Federation, and enable Dubai clubs to participate in the tournament and interact with private sports clubs and academies, as well as increase the number of matches played by Dubai club players to reach the international level (between 35 and 40 matches annually).

Public invitation to all academies

The Dubai Sports Council and the Football Association invited all academies to participate in the tournament, and the conditions for participation and competition regulations that include technical specifications in terms of stadium dimensions for each category, playing time, and other aspects in accordance with approved international standards that contribute to providing the best atmosphere for play, were clarified.
