Sadio Mane comments on his competition with Mohamed Salah

Senegalese star Sadio Mane confirmed that he does not compete with Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, his former teammate in Liverpool.

The Bayern Munich star said after receiving the award for the best player in Africa: "People sometimes say that there is a competition between me and Salah, but I do not see myself in competition with any player, frankly."

He added, "We have a good relationship, we exchange messages, I think the media is always trying to exaggerate things. I also do not have a relationship with just one player, but with every player in the world I have played with."

And the Senegalese national team star concluded by saying: "You can ask anyone you want in the club, or wherever I go, I have a good relationship with all the players."

Mane, who recently joined Bayern Munich, was crowned on Thursday evening the African Player of the Year award for the second time in his history after achieving the same achievement in 2019.

Mane's award came after leading Senegal to win the African Cup of Nations for the first time and winning the award for best player in the tournament, in addition to his country's promotion to the World Cup in Qatar.

On his way to winning the award, Mane outperformed Salah, as well as his compatriot Edward Mendy, Chelsea goalkeeper, and became the all-time top scorer for Senegal by scoring 33 goals in 91 matches.
