Nikola Djurdjic came under fire last weekend after pictures of him at a nightclub in Stockholm were circulated on social media.

The next day he was to play a match in Uppsala against Sirius.

This caused Degerfors to act and was kicked from the match squad.

Now the Serb apologizes in an open letter on Degerfors' website.

- I want to apologize to my teammates, my coaches and above all the club's supporters, he writes on the club's website.

"Don't drink a drop"

The 36-year-old understands that his behavior was not appropriate, and that he always strives to be professional.

- Last week I broke my judgement, and even though I didn't drink a drop of alcohol, I understood that it was inappropriate to be out the night before a match.

Degerfors lost 0–2 against IK Sirius and Djurdjic was heavily criticized on social media after his actions before the match.

- I realize that being seen out the day before the match is not appropriate, and therefore I apologize.

I have always been professional throughout my career and always gave 100% in training and matches, for all the clubs I played for.

The striker has scored three goals in 20 Allsvenskan matches for Degerfors.
