Early in the 19th stage of the Tour de France, the race was stopped by climate protesters.

A breakaway group of five had established itself before the race was stopped.

However, the demonstration allowed the main field to catch up with the breakaways, who had built up a gap of one minute and 20 seconds.

When the race resumed, the five of the original breakaway group were allowed to ride back into the lead.

In the end, the Frenchman Cristophe Laporte won after a sprint battle.

The Belgian Jasper Philipsen was second ahead of Alberto Dainese from Italy.

Overall leader Jonas Vingegaard keeps the yellow leader's jersey.

Two stages remain and the Dane has three minutes and 21 seconds to spare on double champion Tadej Pogacar, Slovenia, who is currently second.
