Wydad is the best African club and El-Shennawy is the best player on the continent

Wydad Casablanca, the Moroccan champion of the African Champions League, won the award for the best men's club in Africa, while Mohamed El-Shennawy, Al-Ahly goalkeeper of Egypt, won the award for the best player within the continent, at the annual Best Awards ceremony organized by the African Confederation (CAF) and hosted by Morocco.

Senegal, the African champion, qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, won the award for the best men's team in the continent, ahead of the runner-up Egypt and host Cameroon.

Senegal coach Aliou Cissé won the award for the best coach in the continent, after beating Walid Rekraki, coach of Moroccan Wydad, and former coach of the Egyptian national team, Carlos Queiroz.

South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns won the Continental Women's Team of the Year award after winning the first ever women's CAF Champions League, while the African Club Player of the Year award went to Evelyn Badu of Ghana, who also won the Best Young Player award.

Senegalese Babe Matar Sarr won the award for the best young player.

South African Desiree Ellis won the award for the best coach for the women's team in Africa.

The goal of Babi Osman Sako of Simba of Tanzania won the award for the best goal in 2022.

The Egyptian international, Mohamed Salah, is competing with his former Liverpool colleague, Sadio Mane, and Edouard Mendy, Chelsea and Senegal goalkeeper, for the award for the best player in Africa, which will be announced later.

The winner will be determined based on the votes of the Technical Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and a group of journalists, as well as coaches and captains of African teams.
