Eklund played nine games for San Jose in the NHL last season but was loaned out to Djurgården.
There were 29 SHL matches and 14 points for him.
Eklund was drafted as seventh, in the first round in 2021, by San Jose.
In December last year, the JVM in ice hockey was postponed due to a corona outbreak during the tournament.
Instead, the championship will be decided this summer, August 9-20 in Edmonton, Canada.
