Earlier this year, Henrik Stenson was named captain of the Ryder Cup team - a title he lost after the decision to play in the LIV tour.

- It's difficult, I do not know his agenda.

But the timing of him becoming captain was not so good.

He would have waited until after the Ryder Cup in any case, says Helen Alfredsson.

- It is an honorable assignment and this undermines the value of the Ryder Cup, that money is worth more.

I think it feels tragic to be honest: The integrity of the Gulf is in jeopardy.

"Must stand for what you say"

She finds it difficult to understand that money would be a motivation.

- They earn so much anyway, and how much money do you really need?

Money does not make life better, says Alfredsson.

Both Alfredsson and Stenson started playing golf at Gullbringa Golf and Country Club in Gothenburg at a young age.

- You do not get more respect in the golf world because you play the LIV tour, the only thing you get is money.

I do not know him, we are from the same club, but have never perceived him as such directly.

Alfredsson has himself represented Europe in the Ryder Cup on one occasion.

- I feel that when he got the role of captain, he said that it was a "dream".

Aren't they longer then?

You have to stand for what you say.

As soon as you become a public figure, it comes with some responsibility.

"There is no money in the world ..."

Alfredsson compares with when she came second in the British Open in 2008, when there was talk about how much money she got.

But it can not be compared to winning, and that is another thing that makes her question Stenson's decision.

- Some may play for money.

But money can not be compared to winning anything.

I do not think Tiger (Woods) did that, for example.

But you get to see how fun it is in a year or two for them, says Alfredsson.

- There are many in "bussiness" who have made a lot of money on other people's misery, they have a conscience and push it away.
