Norwegian Erling Halland raised questions among football fans about his religion, after he wrote the sentence "God willing" in a tweet on Twitter today, Thursday, especially as he used to say thank God, and even prostrated in celebration of one of his goals.

Halland used to say praise be to God in his comments last season, and he also sparked widespread controversy when he prostrated after scoring a goal for his former team, Borussia Dortmund, against Seville, Spain, in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League in February 2021.

The controversy over Haaland's religion was renewed after his comment today on a tweet published by the "City Xtra" account, congratulating him on his 22nd birthday, which falls on July 21, and he replied, "Thank you, the first match against Bayern Munich, God willing."

Thanks!

The Arab and foreign audience interacted with Halland's tweet, which received more than 112,000 likes, and exceeded 14 thousand retweets, in addition to thousands of comments, in which the question "Is Halland a Muslim?" was repeated.

And a tweeter expressed his admiration for what the Norwegian striker wrote, saying, "Haland brothers say, God willing, it seems that he is a Muslim," while another wrote, "If Haaland was a Muslim, I say God proves him, and if he is not a Muslim, I say God guides his heart to Islam, O Lord."

Hey, Halland is awesome, he always says, God willing, and praise be to God on Instagram... and here, he also said, praise be to God in his voice... If Halland was a Muslim, I say God proves him, and if he's not a Muslim, I say God guides his heart to Islam, oh Lord 💙💙💙🤍 pic.twitter.com/TMkYkn8PBp

And one of the followers asked about Halland's religion, saying in his comment on the tweet, "God willing! Are you a Muslim, my friend or what? What's going on?"

And he shared the last video clip of the new Manchester City striker when he was a player in the Borussia Dortmund team, and he said, while celebrating one of the goals, the phrase “Praise be to God.”

Halland, when scoring goals, used to celebrate in a normal way or his own movement, and not in the usual way for Christian players, which is the "drawing of the cross" movement.

World class!

It is noteworthy that the young Norwegian player moved to Manchester City this summer from Dortmund in a transfer deal amounting to 60 million euros (the value of the penalty clause to break the contract), and he will participate for the first time with the English team against Bayern Munich in a friendly match on July 24, as part of preparations The two teams for the new season in the United States of America.
