Dybala joins Roma on a free transfer
AS Roma, the champions of the European Football Conference, announced today, Wednesday, that Argentine international striker Paulo Dybala joined the Italian capital team on a three-year contract, following his departure from Juventus.
Dybala, who joined Roma on a free transfer, said on Twitter: "The days before signing this contract were full of emotions.
"I will move to a prominent team that continues to work towards laying strong foundations for the future. Working under coach Jose Mourinho is fantastic."
And there were reports linking Dybala to the possibility of moving to Inter Milan after the expiration of his contract with Juventus.
The value of the deal is about six million euros ($6.14 million), the Italian news agency ANSA reported.
The 28-year-old won five league titles and four Italian Cups with Juventus after joining the Turin-based club from Palermo in 2015, scoring 115 goals in 293 matches in all competitions.
But injuries chased him in the last two seasons with Juventus.
Dybala, who has played 34 international matches with Argentina since his first appearance with the first team in 2015, became the fourth deal for Roma in the current transfer period.
"Dybala has already joined his new teammates in the training camp in Portugal and this week will start preparing for the new season, and Dybala will wear the number 21 shirt," Roma said in a statement.
Roma finished sixth in the Italian league last season and won the European Conference League title under coach Mourinho.
Roma will start their Serie A campaign in the new season against Salernitana on August 14.
