The A national team debut came as early as 2009, long before she could support herself in football.

Today, the 33-year-old has made over 100 international appearances for Portugal and is now, after receiving Russia's place in the championship, facing a possible promotion from the group in the European Championships on Sunday.

- With hard work and determination, I got things to change.

Now I have and will face Sweden in a European Championship, says the player.

"Must be in the best shape"

She sees that the nation's women's football has taken a big step forward.

- Today there are more women's teams in Portugal, and other nations have begun to gain respect for our national team.

The defender has great respect for Sweden as resistance.

- Sweden are favorites, even to win the European Championships.

They are very difficult to meet and ranked highest in this championship.

- Portugal and all other teams that face Sweden must be in the best possible shape to win.
