The delegation of the national team of modern sailing is leaving today, for Morocco, to compete for the titles of the international championships of M'diq and Rabat, to be held respectively from 20 to 28 July.

The national team competing in the “CA 6” category includes the bronze holder of the World Championship, Adel Khaled, Hamza and Harith Al Ali, and Muhammad Abdul Karim. The delegation includes coach Zuhair Labat, international coach and team administrator Youssef Khaled Al Bastaki.

For his part, the team’s administrator, Youssef Khaled Al Bastaki, told “Emirates Today”: “I thank the Sail Federation, headed by Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, and the follow-up of Secretary-General Mohammed Al-Obaidli, for supporting the team and providing all the requirements for success to participate in the two Moroccan championships, through which they aspire to raise the flag The UAE is at the top and maintains our golden record in internationally accredited international championships under the International Sailing Federation program, especially that the country’s athletes will compete in the Al-Madiq and Rabat championships, the champions of Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Switzerland and Senegal, in a participation that represents at the same time the best preparation for the team before heading, next October, for the competition. in the Arab Championship in the Sultanate of Oman.

He explained: "Our ambitions are great in maintaining the golden record of the UAE champions, especially in the Straits Championship, which is organized by the Royal Moroccan Naval Club during the period from 20 to 24 of this month in the Al-Madiq region on the shores of the Mediterranean in northern Morocco, in which the state champions have a proven track record. Among the achievements over the past years, the most recent of which came in the 16th session of the championship in 2019, during which the country’s athletes succeeded in winning five various medals (2 gold - 2 silver - 1 bronze).

He added, "The team continues its Moroccan participation by moving to the Rabat International Maritime Championship, which will be held from 25 to 28 July, with the ambition of competing again on the podiums."

In turn, the national team player, Adel Khaled, who was crowned last month with bronze in the World Championships in Mexico, said: “Achieving the podiums is the desired goal that we aspire to in the external benefits, as the Moroccan participation comes a month after my success in gifting the UAE and Asia their first medals in the World Sailing Championships. the talk".
