The Slovenian

Primoz Roglic

, from the Jumbo team, announced this Sunday his withdrawal from the Tour de France before the start of the 15th stage in Rodez.

"To allow me to properly treat my injuries, we have decided that I will not go out today," said the Slovenian, who was 21st overall, more than 30 minutes behind Vingegaard, yellow jersey and teammate.

Roglic took a hit to the shoulder and back in his fall during the cobblestone stage leading to Arenberg, on stage 5 of the Tour.

Defeated on the eve of the finish by his compatriot Tadej Pogacar in the 2020 Tour de France, Roglic had reached the 2022 edition as co-leader of the Jumbo team alongside Vingegaard.

"I am proud of my contribution to the current standings and I am confident that the team will achieve its goals, thanks to everyone for their great support," Roglic also stated.

The 32-year-old Slovenian had won Paris-Nice and Dauphiné this year, two one-week stage races.

He

has also won three times in the Vuelta a España, which should now be his next big goal from August 19.

His departure leaves Team Jumbo with seven riders.
