THE ESSENTIAL

  • The 14th stage of the Tour de France takes the riders from Saint-Etienne to Mende (192 km) this Saturday.

  • A very hilly course awaits the runners, with 3,500 meters of elevation gain and an arrival at the top of the Côte de la Croix-Neuve, better known for a few years as the Laurent Jalabert climb, who won there alone in 1995.

  • It is expected that a group of good climbers who are far behind in the general classification will seek to leave from the first kilometers.

  • The fight could also concern the yellow jersey in the last climb, Tadej Pogacar still having 2'22 to go back to Jonas Vingegaard.

  • All the results and rankings can be found here.

Tour de France 2022: Mads Pedersen wins in turn, Denmark "is the new sexy"

10 a.m.: The stakes of the race

The arrival at the top of the Côte de la Croix Neuve always promises great battles.

There will be one for the stage, which should concern a breakaway that started very soon after the given start in Saint-Etienne.

Good adventurers-climbers, dropped in general, are expected to maneuver, such as Lennard Kämna, Thibaut Pinot, Alberto Bettiol, Mattia Cattaneo, even Primoz Roglic, who has been trying for several days already.

Behind, there will also be the fight for the yellow jersey, because the high percentages of the "Jalabert climb", as it is now called, offers Tadej Pogacar an opportunity to steal time from Jonas Vingegaard.

The Slovenian has no choice if he wants to succeed in overthrowing the Tour.

Yum yum.
