Muaythai Emirates advances to the semi-finals of the Birmingham World Championships

The UAE Muaythai national team succeeded in qualifying for the semi-finals of the World Games in Birmingham, USA, which concludes tomorrow, in which 3,600 athletes from 100 countries from all over the world participated in 36 sports.

3 out of 4 players managed to reach the semi-finals, where our national team player Noureddine Samir defeated his Italian counterpart Cosimo Frattoni in the under 63.5 kg competition, with a score of 30/27, to meet the Thai player Warasak Tharakhagad, and Elias Habib also beat his Peruvian counterpart Matteo Celly Posen. Under 81 kg, with a score of 30/27 as well, he will face American player Aaron Ortiz in the semi-finals.

Our national team player, under 67 kg, Mohamed Mardi, qualified directly to the semi-finals, where he will meet Moroccan player Hamza Rachid, while Amin Al-Moatasem lost to Moroccan player Abdelali Zahidi.

Ali Ali Khoury, member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Muaythai and Kickboxing Federation, said that the victory of the trio of the national muaythai team and their qualification to the semi-finals of the World Championships in Birmingham reflects the tangible boom witnessed by the UAE sport in general thanks to the support and generous care it received from the rational leadership.

Khoury pointed out that the muay thai team entered this international forum with the aim of winning colorful medals, climbing the podiums and raising the UAE flag high in front of everyone.
