Morocco achieved a historic achievement Thursday after becoming the first Arab team to participate in the Women's World Cup finals, by qualifying for the semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations, which it is hosting at home in the cities of Rabat and Casablanca, by defeating Botswana 2-1 in the quarter-finals.

The unprecedented Arab achievement brought Moroccans to the streets in celebration, and it also reflected the Moroccan football brilliance this year after the men’s team qualified for the World Cup finals in Qatar, Wydad crowned the Champions League title, and Nahda Berkane became the champion of the Confederation Cup (Confederation), in addition to the coronation of the futsal team Futsal won the Arab Cup after the continental title.


The "Atlas Lionesses" dominated the achievement by beating Botswana 2-1 at the "Prince Moulay Abdullah" stadium in the capital, Rabat, in front of about 40,000 spectators, in the quarter-finals of the continental championship, which is being held for the first time in the North African Arab region.


The host team owes it to Sana Masoudi and Levante midfielder Yasmine Amrabet, who scored the two goals in the Botswana goal, as captain Ghozlan Al-Shabak, daughter of the former international player Al-Arabi Al-Shabak, as well as goalkeeper Khadija Al-Rumaichi starred.


The Moroccan team will meet in the semi-finals on Monday with its Nigerian counterpart, who defeated Cameroon 1-0 in the quarter-finals, while the second confrontation in the round of four will be on the same day between Zambia and South Africa, who beat Senegal on penalties 4-2 (1-1 in the original time). and overtime) and Tunisia 1-0, respectively.
