Sweden-Switzerland 13/7

There is therefore a lot to suggest that it will be the two pre-favorites who advance from Group C. But still all four countries have the chance, and neither Sweden nor the Netherlands can probably afford to lose in the final round if there is to be promotion.

There are also reasons to want to take home first place in the group, as they will then learn to avoid world number three France in the quarterfinals.

The situation in group C before the final round:

1) Netherlands, 4 points, 4-3 in goal difference (+1).

2) Sweden, 4 points, 3–2 (+1).

3) Portugal, 1 point, 4–5 (–1).

4) Switzerland, 1 point, 3–4 (–1).

Then Sweden goes on:

+ At least one point against Portugal.

Then Sweden can not be worse than second in the group.

+ Loss against Portugal with one goal, while the Netherlands loses against Switzerland with one goal - in a more goalless match.

Then all four teams end up with four points, and with + –0 in goal difference.

In that scenario, Sweden can not pass Portugal, which will have scored more goals.

On the other hand, they end up ahead of both Switzerland and the Netherlands, given that their match contains fewer goals than Sweden's.

Example: Sweden loses 1-2 against Portugal and the Netherlands loses 0-1 against Switzerland.

Then Portugal wins the group thanks to a total of 6-6 in goal difference.

Sweden, Switzerland and the Netherlands are at the same time completely equal with 4-4 in goal difference.

Then Sweden goes on thanks to more points in mutual meetings between the three teams.

Then Sweden wins the group:

+ Victory against Portugal, while the Netherlands loses points against Switzerland.

+ Victory against Portugal by a larger margin than the Netherlands at the same time beating Switzerland.

+ Victory against Portugal with as many goal margins as the Netherlands beat Switzerland.

However, Sweden must score more goals than the Netherlands in such a situation, so that the total number of Swedish goals in the European Championships exceeds the total number of Dutch.

+ Draw against Portugal, while the Netherlands loses against Switzerland.

Then Sweden is eliminated from the European Championships:

+ Loss against Portugal, while the Netherlands take points from Switzerland.

+ Loss against Portugal by two goals or more.

+ Loss against Portugal by one goal, while Switzerland wins against the Netherlands by at least two goals.

+ Loss against Portugal with one goal, while Switzerland wins against the Netherlands with one goal - and Sweden does not score more goals than Switzerland in its match.
