When Sara Hector is 18 years old, she is one of Sweden's most promising alpine skiers.

She has just won gold in the junior WC and feels in extremely good shape, she says in her summer talk.

But a mandatory fat scan with the national team puts sticks in the wheel for Sara.

She discovers that she has gained one and a half kilos in weight since the last check-up.

- Maybe I would perform better if I got rid of those kilos, she thinks.

"You get fat and slow"

She describes herself as extremely motivated and disciplined when it comes to exercise and mat intake, and loses weight quickly.

- Parties, friends and guys, things that I see others spend time on, are easy to prioritize away.

I still thrive best in the gym, she says.

Sara describes herself as a "candy rat" and puts up notes in the kitchen to prevent her craving for sweets.

“Remember that you want to be the best in the world Sara.

Do not eat chocolate!

You just get fat and slow! ”, It says.

"Tears flow"

Sara trains hard, and succeeds with her goal of losing weight.

-I lose eight kilos, and my discipline is infallible.

But my fitness tests show something else.

I am apparently losing speed and strength.

My teammates go around me and my curve goes down.

How is that possible when I do everything right?

A 20-year-old Sara feels that her career is about to fall out of her hands

- I feel that my career is starting to fall apart.

The tears flow.

That less exercise and more food would be the solution is completely foreign to me.

My period has stopped coming, and I have knocked in food anxiety as part of my everyday life.

The coaches catch Sara

Sara's coach realizes the problem, and gives her an ultimatum during a meeting.

"Either you have to eat everything that is served, or you have to go home from the camp," they tell her.

Even though it is very difficult, it is an easy choice for Sara to choose the sport she loves.

- I am grateful that I was caught on time.

That I did not have time to develop a regular eating disorder.

That people around me said stop.
