THE ESSENTIAL

  • The 9th stage of the Tour de France, 193km long, today connects Aigle to Châtel-Les Portes du Soleil.

  • The first 170 kilometers are through Switzerland, before returning to France for the final, with the Pas de Morgins pass where the stage will be played out.

  • Yesterday, in Lausanne, Wout Van Aert won in the sprint, ahead of Michael Matthews and Tadej Pogacar.

  • The Slovenian is still yellow jersey.

Wout Van Aert reinforced his green jersey.

Magnus Cort Nielsen is the polka dot jersey, but that could change today.

Pogacar is the white jersey, but he leaves it to Tom Pidcock.

This is the first real mountain stage of this Tour, with beautiful climbs throughout the 190 kilometers of racing, without however reaching the highest peaks yet.

The riders will have a first chop to get into the rhythm, then will face a hell of a sequence in the second half of the stage, with the Col des Mosses and de la Croix to start having fun, before the ascent of the Pas de Morgins, where the best should fight.

The finish will not be judged at the top, but after a slight descent towards Châtel.

>> See you around 3:00 p.m. to follow this beautiful mountain stage all together...
