It has been decided that the WBC = World Baseball Classic for baseball, which had been postponed due to the influence of the new coronavirus, will be held in March next year.

Japan, aiming to win the championship for the first time in three tournaments, will compete in the first league against Australia, China and South Korea.

This was announced on the 7th by the WBSC = World Baseball Softball Confederation.



Twenty teams, four more than the previous one, participated in the tournament, and the first league will be held from March 9, next year. Japan, which aims to win the championship for the first time in three tournaments, has entered Group B of the first league.



The Group B match will be held at Tokyo Dome from March 9th to 13th, with five teams competing in Japan, Australia, China, South Korea, and the teams that have won the qualifying round.



The top two teams from the four groups will then advance to the quarterfinals, with the semifinals and finals scheduled for March 19-21 in Miami, Florida, USA.



WBC started in 2006 as the world's best baseball tournament, and Japan has won the first tournament and the second tournament in 2009 in a row, under the supervision of Hideki Kuriyama, who took office in December last year. We aim to win the championship for the first time in three tournaments.
