Anna Lindberg left her job as the national captain for Swedish swimming in March - just 4.5 months after she took office.

She then said that there were no conditions for her to carry out the assignment on her own terms.

This weekend, in an interview with Expressen, she chose to go deeper into the reasons behind her resignation.

After SVT Sports' review of the environment in Swedish swimming, Lindberg told Expressen that the decision was made due to operations manager Susanne Meckbach.

- I felt early on that we did not share the same values and that we do not have the same purpose with our assignment.

It is important that you do not go with untruths and convey an incorrect image of Swedish swimming, Lindberg said.

SVT Sport has contacted the swimming association's sports director Ulrika Sandmark for a comment on Lindberg's statement about Meckbach.

She has declined phone calls and instead answers emails, via Anna Hammar, press officer at the union.

“We have had many dialogues with Anna Lindberg before she chose to step down from her assignment.

Anna made an overall assessment and decided to step down as national team captain.

We in Swedish swimming wanted to see that she stayed on her post, but respect her decision ", they write.

"Has great knowledge and experience"

SVT Sport reported on Meckbach's investigation in a recent review.

In the survey, 25 of 32 coaches with experience of the national team testified about a culture of silence and lack of leadership and pointed out the former national team captain Ulrika Knape Lindberg as one of the problems.

Ulrika Knape Lindberg told SVT Sport that she did not recognize herself in the information that emerged in the survey.

Researcher Susanne Meckbach does not understand Anna Lindberg's criticism.

- I'm very sorry to read the accusations against me.

That I deal with untruths and that I am dishonest.

The only thing I have done is that in consultation with my boss, Ulrika Sandmark, I have done a current situation analysis of Swedish swimming, Meckbach told SVT Sport last Saturday.

The association now writes that it has confidence in the investigation and in Meckbach as a researcher.

“The business developer that we in Swedish swimming sports gave the assignment to carry out the screening is a researcher and has extensive knowledge and experience of implementing, reviewing and reporting information in an objective way.

She has a solid education and has previously conducted various types of investigations in sports with a connection to leadership and psychosocial environment.

We have full confidence in the way the screening has been carried out ”.
