Barça President Joan Laporta has expressed his delight at Robert Lewandowski's desire to join FC Barcelona.

"We know that he has publicly stated that he wants to come to Barça and we are very flattered," the 60-year-old told Spanish media on Saturday in the Costa Brava town of S'Agaró.

He was more cautious, however, as to whether a change in the top scorer from Bayern Munich would be possible this year.

This was reported by the Spanish sports newspaper "Mundo Deportivo".

"Everyone knows that he (Lewandowski, ed.) Is a great player, but I would rather keep things quiet because he is a Bayern player," emphasized Laporta.

"We have every respect for Bayern Munich, one of the best clubs in the world.

Between clubs we respect each other," said the Barça boss.

On Friday he had drawn FC Barcelona's pain threshold for the transfer fee for Lewandowski at 40 million euros.

This was reported by Spanish sports media such as "AS".

Kessié and Christensen come

Bayern have so far insisted that the 33-year-old Pole fulfill his contract, which runs until June 30, 2023.

The "Bild" had reported that Bayern wanted to reject Barcelona's offer and demand at least 60 million euros.

So far there have been no official statements on this.

However, Laporta has confirmed the signings of AC Milan's Franck Kessié and Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen.

Both come to FC Barcelona on a free transfer.

In addition, according to a media report, former Dortmund professional Ousmane Dembélé is on the verge of a contract extension.

As the Spanish newspaper "Sport" reported late Saturday evening, the 25-year-old Frenchman is to extend his contract with FC Barcelona, which expired on June 30, by two years until summer 2024.

As “Sport” further reported, Barça coach Xavi definitely wants to keep the former Borussia.

There was a big argument between Dembélé and the Catalans about the contract extension at the beginning of the year.

Barcelona's sporting director Mateu Alemany, who had initially spoken out against an extension with the winger, still had to give his consent, the newspaper continued.

Laporta said that the Dembélé club had already submitted an offer: "It's an economic discussion." If the Frenchman doesn't accept the terms, the cooperation will not continue.
