His playing career included two Stanley Cup titles with the Colorado Avalanche and two Olympic gold medals with Tre Kronor.

The titles in the NHL were salvaged in 1996 and 2001. The latter was Colorado's closest trophy - until this year was salvaged in the final series against Tampa Bay.

Peter Forsberg himself could not go to the USA to watch the team's matches when a promise of a midsummer celebration with the family was given priority.

Instead, he had to follow the final series from the TV couch - in the middle of the night.

- It was a little nervous, absolutely.

Victor Hedman (Tampa) is from Ö-vik, so it was not hoped that Tampa would lose in any way either.

It was a little difficult.

At the same time, I spent most of my career in Colorado so I wanted them to win, says Forsberg to SVT Sport.

"Known the press ..."

When Colorado's wild celebrations were then played out, "Foppa's" joy became clear.

- I think it's great fun.

They have been down and turned and were among the worse teams for a while.

They have since drafted properly and in recent years they have almost been favorites.

I know how the atmosphere in the city has been and that they have felt the press.

It must have been incredibly nice for them to win.

I know Joe Sakic (former teammate, now GM in Avalanche) and many on the medical team.

They are well worth it.

Forsberg has texted Sakic and congratulated him.

- He really went for it.

It was thought that he would take it easy after his playing career, but he has worked really hard.

Big tribute to the Swedish captain

But so far there has been no contact with Colorado captain Gabriel Landeskog.

- Landeskog seems to be full, Forsberg says jokingly.

He really develops and praises the star:

- He seems to enjoy the days, which he should also do.

He has been captain for ten years and had a tough time from the beginning, when the team was not so good.

- He is a fantastic leader.

When the contract expired last, it was incredibly important to keep him in the organization, because he seems to be an incredibly good leader on the side.

On the ice, he has always stood up, quarreled, fought and been one hundred percent in every match.

He's been a big part of this team.
