Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, the Fujairah International Championship of the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association will start tomorrow, Saturday, at Zayed Sports Complex.

The tournament, organized by the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Association of Jiu-Jitsu Professionals (AJP), attracts hundreds of players from various clubs and academies in the categories of juniors, youth, amateurs, professionals and professors from different continents.

The Secretary-General of the Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Fahd Ali Al Shamsi, praised the generous sponsorship of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, for the championship, and his continuous support for the federation’s efforts to lead the country in the global scene of this sport. He also thanked the management of Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah for its continuous cooperation with The Federation and its support for its strategic plans related to the publication and development of the game.

Al Shamsi said: "The support provided by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, and his sponsorship of the tournament, contribute to consolidating its leading position on the map of international jiu-jitsu tournaments, and attracting the most prominent players from the region and the world."

He also stressed that the UAE has become the global home of Jiu-Jitsu, the most widespread sport in the emirates of the country, thanks to the great support and care of the wise leadership, and its keenness that the Emirati community enjoy a healthy lifestyle, which contributes to the rehabilitation of strong generations capable of making achievements in various fields.

The competitions fall within the framework of the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association series of tournaments around the world, five of which are held inside the country during the 2022 season. Among the most prominent stars of the game, the quality of performance, the technical level, the public attendance and the distinguished media coverage.

The activities start on Saturday with competitions for young people and teachers, and continue on Sunday with competitions in the amateur and professional categories.
