A year after taking office, Pierre Vincent was sacked from his post as coach of the Asvel women's team, finalists in the last French basketball championship, the club announced on Wednesday.

Aged 58, he succeeded Valéry Demory, with a contract for five seasons (until 2026).

The Villeurbannaises delivered a white season after being eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France and the Eurocoupe, and having finished 3rd in the regular season in the league with six defeats.

The team is not qualified for the Euroleague.

Pierre Vincent had already been dismissed for the first time by Asvel, in November 2014 when he took the reins of the men's team in 2011.
