Despite speculation about a change, superstar Kyrie Irving has decided to extend his contract with the Brooklyn Nets in the North American basketball league NBA.

"I've made my decision.

See you in the fall," he told sports website The Athletic on Monday.

The 30-year-old is taking out the $37 million (€34.9 million) contract option for next season.

The decision was not officially communicated at first.

According to the report, the point guard is refraining from possible trade measures in order to finally win an NBA title at Brooklyn along with superstar Kevin Durant.

Irving has played for the Nets since 2019 but has only played 103 games so far due to injuries and not being vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Wall to the Clippers

In the past season, the Nets failed in the first round of the play-offs due to the eventual finalist Boston.

The New York-based franchise hasn't reached the second round of the playoffs since 2003.

Meanwhile, superstar John Wall is about to move to the Los Angeles Clippers.

This was reported by the sports portal ESPN on Monday evening (local time).

Accordingly, the 31-year-old builder and the Houston Rockets are said to have agreed on a so-called buyout to enable an early separation.

Wall played with the Washington Wizards from 2010 to 2020 and has since played with the Rockets.

The veteran has been slowed down by injuries in the past three seasons and has not played more than 41 regular-season games in any of the three seasons.
