The traditional Monte-Cristo challenge came to a halt for many participants this Sunday morning in Marseille.
According to
La Provence
, about fifty swimmers, engaged in the 5 and 6 km races, were stung by jellyfish, barely a few hundred meters after the start of the Château d'If.
These competitors were brought back to shore by a launch from the SNSM (National Society for Sea Rescue).
The races resumed at a respectable distance from the cnidarian bench, but relieved of most of the participants.
However, no hospitalization would have taken place, according to an initial report communicated by the firefighters to the regional daily.
