Léon Marchand is indeed currently the star of the basins.

The new king of French swimming and the American Katie Ledecky were named best swimmers of the Worlds-2022 by the International Federation, Saturday on the last day of competition in Budapest.

Marchand, 20, hit hard on the first day of the Championships by winning the 400m medley.

He did it again a few days later in the 200m medley final and also won the silver medal in the 200m butterfly.

A shower of medals for Ledecky

Katie Ledecky won three individual gold medals in the 400m, 800m and 1,500m freestyle.

She was also crowned with her teammates in the 4x200m relay.

After the Budapest Worlds, she now has 22 world medals, including 19 gold, a record for women.
