American sprint star Sha'Carri Richardson has failed to qualify for the 100 meter race at the IAAF World Championships.

The gold candidate was eliminated from the US Trials in Eugene in the preliminary heat and now has no chance of a World Championship ticket on the shortest of all sprint distances.

Richardson still has a chance this weekend in the 200m to make the US team for the highlight of the season July 15-24, also in Eugene.

For this, the 22-year-old must occupy one of the first three places.

After a weak 11.31 seconds in her run, she finished fifth over the 100 meters and ended up in 23rd place in the overall ranking.

"5.

Place.

Oh my God.

I'm broken from the heat.

We must fight back," Richardson wrote on Instagram.

Richardson won the 100 meters at the US Outdoor Championships last year.

However, her dream of an Olympic medal in Tokyo was shattered after a suspension for marijuana use.

World best time of the year by Fred Kerley

Meanwhile, Fred Kerley set an exclamation mark in the men's sprint.

The 27-year-old Tokyo silver medalist set a new world best of the year on the Hayward Field track of 9.83 seconds.

Kerley improved on the previous 2022 record set by Kenyan Ferdinand Omanyala on May 7 by two hundredths of a second.
