In men's golf, there is currently a battle between the PGA Tour and the newly started Saudi-sponsored tour LIV Golf, which several stars have signed up for.

The same debate does not exist on the women's side, but instead they take the opportunity to raise the prize money significantly for their major this week.

The new sum is nine million (approximately SEK 91 million) US dollars, of which 1.35 (approximately SEK 13.7 million) million goes to the winner.

- What's going on there can go on there, but that they double our prize money is fantastic and gives attention to women's golf.

It is super grateful and I am very happy about it, says Frida Kinhult.

When the news came yesterday, there was a lot of talk among the players.

- It was my caddy who texted and said 'check your email'.

I went in and checked and saw that it had been doubled.

It's absolutely amazing.

It's a good boost.

I will try to play as if it were any amount, but a big check would have been extra fun.

About the competition itself, Kinhult says this:

- Super fine track.

It will be tougher than the ones we usually play, but I think it will be on majors.

It will be a cool challenge.

I think my game is going in the right direction week by week.

In addition to Kinhult, the Swedes Anna Nordqvist, Linnea Johansson, Pernilla Lindberg and Madelene Sagström also play at Bethesda in Maryland.

The reigning champion is the American Nelly Korda.

The competition starts today at 13, Swedish time.
