At the World Swimming Championships held in Hungary, the men's 200-meter breaststroke final was held on the 23rd, and the first-time Hanawa Yu player won the silver medal with a mark of 2: 08.38.

This is the first time in two tournaments that a Japanese player has won a silver medal in this event.

Hanawa is a growing 22-year-old who won his first victory in the men's 200-meter breaststroke at the Japan Championships last month.

In this world championship, which was his first appearance, he advanced to the final on the 23rd in 3rd place overall.

In the first half of the final, Hanawa was chasing the other players in the lead, but he calmly set up a spurt from the remaining 50 meters, finished in 2: 08.38 at the same time as the Swedish player, and won the silver medal. I got it.

It is the first time in two tournaments that a Japanese player has won a silver medal in this event since Yasuhiro Koseki of the 2017 tournament.

The gold medal was Isaac Stubblety Cook of Australia, the world record holder of this event who marked 2: 07.07 and the gold medalist of the Tokyo Olympics.

Hanawa said, "I wasn't as good as my personal best, but I was relieved to get the medal. At the end, I was a little tired, but I think my tenacious strength was alive."

Ryuya Mura, the representative of the Tokyo Olympics who advanced to the final with Hanawa, finished 4th at 2:08:86.

Also, in the men's 100m butterfly semi-final, Naoki Mizunuma showed a strong swim from the beginning and shortened his Japanese record set at the representative selection meeting in March by 0 seconds 05 to mark 50 seconds 81 as a whole. I got to the 2nd place and advanced to the final.

Katsuhiro Matsumoto missed the final in 13th place overall.
