There was great drama in the fourth final of the Stanley Cup.

After 2-2 at full time, extra time was required before Colorado finally emerged victorious.

Tampa Bay kicked off the meeting and the match was just over half a minute old when Anthony Cirelli put 1-0 to the home team.

Five minutes into the second, Nathan MacKinnon scored an equalizer, and just over ten minutes into the period, Victor Hedman scored 2-1, his third goal in the playoffs.

It is also the third year in a row he is a goal scorer in a final, which only five other defenders in NHL history have previously succeeded with.

The goal was also something of a show, when the Swedish back rock got the puck behind his own blue line, looked up and passed three strangely passive Colorado players, before he found the net on the goalkeeper's outside via backhand.

The puck disappeared

It took until less than three minutes remained of the regular match time before Andew Cogliano managed to score the equalizer for Colorado, which meant 2-2 and extra time drama.

There, Nazem Kadri and Colorado pulled the longest straw just over twelve minutes in, which means a 3-2 victory.

Kadri got the puck with speed and hit it in the net roof, where it hid and caused a few seconds of confusion before the Colorado players could raise their fists in the sky.

Can decide

The 31-year-old Canadian could hardly have dreamed of a better comeback, after missing four playoff games as a result of hand surgery.

- I've been waiting my whole life for this.

So I figured I should stop waiting and just try to hook up at the party.

I'm just grateful that I'm in this situation with this group of guys, says the match winner.

Colorado thus has the opportunity to decide in the next match at home in Denver during the night towards Saturday (Swedish time), when the team leads 3-1 in the match series which is decided in the best of seven.

Winning Colorado is the first time since 2001 that the team is the winner, while Tampa Bay has won the last two years.
