Hungary took its first World Cup gold at the World Swimming Championships in Budapest in the final of the 200 meter breaststroke.

Kristof Milak was superior in the final and won by a margin of three seconds.

Home swimmer Milak saved the home crowd when he finished in the time 1.50.34 and thus broke a new world record.

Great cheers erupted in the arena after the race and Milak was noticeably taken by the victory.

The silver medal was taken home by the Frenchman Leon Marchand and in third place was the Japanese Tomoru Honda.
