Inter Milan rewards Inzaghi despite losing the Italian League

Inter Milan decided to reward coach Simone Inzaghi, despite losing the Italian league title to its arch-rival Milan, according to the Italian newspaper, "La Gazzetta dello Sport".

Inzaghi took over the coach of Inter Milan early last season, succeeding his compatriot Antonio Conte, who moved to coach Tottenham Hotspur, but he failed to preserve the Italian League title, as Milan won it by two points.

Despite the loss of the Italian League, Italian media reported that Simone Inzaghi will extend his contract with Inter Milan until 2024.

Aside from failing to win the Italian league title, Inzaghi won with Inter Milan the Italian Cup and the Super Cup at the expense of the traditional rival Juventus.

Simone, brother of former AC Milan striker and coach Filippo Inzaghi, has gained a good reputation in Italy, having led Lazio to win the Italian Cup and the Super Cup twice, before succeeding Conte at Inter.
