In 2025, the Court will be demolished - after 70 years of major events and championships.

In 1957, two years after the inauguration of Johanneshov, Ingemar Johansson stepped into the boxing ring to defend his European Championship title.

In front of a large audience (how many have not been possible to determine) Johansson succeeded with the feat in the open air.

It was not until five years later that the Court was reopened with a roof.

The arena has been used as a concert stage for world stars such as Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles and ABBA.

But first and foremost, Hovet has been an ice hockey arena and home ground for Djurgården and AIK.

In 1989, the Globe (now Avicii Arena) was built right next to the Court and has since been used in front of the Court for major events.

In 2024, the Avicii Arena will be refurbished:

“Avicii Arena is being rebuilt to offer an intimate and qualitative experience regardless of the type of event and the crowd.

The arena will be closed for rebuilding in 2024 and will open in 2025 ", writes Stockholm City.

The same year, the 2025 Hockey World Cup will be played in Avicii Arena.

When it is ready, the Court will be demolished and then an ice rink will be built on the site, but underground.
