After a difficult period in Germany with no playing time, Sofia Jakobsson chose to move to San Diego for games in the American league NWSL.

Six months before, she had signed for the German big club Bayern Munich.

- Of course I had high expectations of what was waiting in Munich, but the playing time did not materialize.

I do not think I deserved it and should have been given a more honest chance, says Jakobsson.

- I have no problem sitting on the bench, but now there were many matches on the bench and it did not feel like the most optimal conditions for me if I was to be able to perform in a European Championship.

That's why I left.

Did you doubt yourself?

- Yes, mostly that I questioned why I was not allowed to play.

But at the same time I know what I can and have played for so long that I trained and knew that there would be other solutions.

With the lack of playing time, your starting place in the national team has also been questioned.

How do you look at it?

- A career does not go straight up, sometimes you have weaknesses.

I do not care so much about the criticism I get from others but rely on myself and my qualities as a football player, she says.
