Last year, Louise Hansson finished fifth at the Olympics in the 100 m butterfly, and a few months later took no less than seven medals, three individual, at the World Short Course Championships in Abu Dhabi.

But the fact is that she has never won an individual medal in a long-distance World Cup, but where "only" has a team race silver from Kazan 2015.

Third in the semifinals

But tomorrow the first medal may come.

Tonight she was ready for the final of the favorite distance 100 meters butterfly.

She finished third in her semifinal, just one hundredth from Australian Briana Thorssell who went around right at the finish line.

Hansson's time was 56.97, 68 percent behind the American heat winner Torri Huske, who was the fastest of all in the two semifinals.

- There is definitely more to come tomorrow, Hansson says to SVT Sport.

Louise Hansson's time was fifth best overall in the two semi-finals, and a medal is definitely within reach in a final field that looks even in advance.

- In a final swim, she can hopefully take home the little extra that is needed, says SVT Sports expert Lars Frölander.
