Before the 800 meter race in Paris, Andreas Kramer's goal was to polish his Swedish record - 1.44.47 - which he set in 2020.

And it looked good for a long time.

- It is really time for a Swedish record for Andreas Kramer who runs brilliantly so far, said SVT's commentator Jacob Hård during the race.

Kramer was third-four during most of the race and also kept the pace required to beat the Swedish record.

But after 600 meters, the Swede who finally ran to the finish as seventh.

- It was an okay race.

I had to run a few extra meters in three of four curves, but I had to accept that situation today.

It is the last 100 that are missing for me to be involved and fight for the first places.

I keep it together decently and do not die completely, says Kramer to SVT Sport.

The time, 1.44.75, was 28 hundredths of his Swedish record.

- An okay time that I am happy to have as a base level.

But I'm looking for that little extra.

For the World Cup, which starts on July 15, the goal is to be down to times close to 1.44.00.

- Yes, that's it.

And there is a whole month left until I will compete at the World Cup so I have a lot of training left, he says.
