After almost returning to Brazil (at Flamengo) last summer, Thiago Mendes has just, to everyone's surprise, extended his contract with Olympique Lyonnais this Friday for two more years.
The defensive midfielder, most often used in central defense last season, is therefore now linked with OL until 2025.

The 30-year-old Brazilian, presented as a "soldier" by the club on social networks when this extension was formalized, played 109 matches in all competitions in the Lyon jersey.
Irregular and rarely fulfilled with OL since his arrival from Losc in 2019 (for 25 million euros), Thiago Mendes, on the other hand, received praise from Peter Bosz on many occasions last season.
The maintenance of the Dutch coach on the Lyon bench therefore undoubtedly had a role in this extension, which follows those of the real innkeepers Maxence Caqueret and Anthony Lopes.
