Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal announced on Friday that he was going to be a father for the first time, confirming information from the Spanish press released in recent hours.

"I'm going to be a father, I'm not used to talking about my personal life because I think I'm already exposed enough in my professional life", was content to indicate the record holder of victories during of Grand Slam tournaments, during a press conference in Palma de Mallorca.

Rumors about the pregnancy of the tennis player's wife, Mery Perelló, had already been circulating since Roland-Garros, but they multiplied this week after the Spanish people magazine Hola claimed to have had confirmation.

Nadal preferred not to say more, recalling that he and his entourage preferred to live in discretion.

“I do not foresee any change in my professional life” due to this upcoming birth, added the tennis player who confirmed to reporters his intention to play at the Wimbledon tournament which begins on June 27.
