During the night until Thursday Swedish time, Gabriel Landeskog and André Burakovsky's Colorado won the first match in the final series.

But if they were to give all the way and eventually get to lift the Stanley Cup dent, the team's Russian players will not be allowed to take it home to Russia.

- We have informed both clubs that this summer the dent will not be taken to Russia or Belarus.

Possibly we will owe them a visit of the dent in the future, it is possible.

But it will not come this summer, says NHL's deputy manager Bill Daly at a press conference before the first final match.

According to tradition, each player in the winning team can take home the dent to their hometown for a day and celebrate.

As recently as September 2021, the Stanley Cup was in Sweden when Tampa Bay's Victor Hedman took it home to Örnsköldsvik.
