Wlodarczyk, 36, discovered over the weekend that a person was trying to steal her car.

The Olympic gold medalist took care of the car thief himself before the police came to the rescue.

But in connection with the operation, Wlodarczyk sustained a thigh injury - and now she has undergone surgery.

"Sometimes fate has other plans, my athletic season is over," she writes on Instagram.

The injury means that Wlodarczyk, who holds the world record with 82.98 meters, will not participate in both the World Championships in Eugene in July and the European Championships in Munich in August.

“A lot of work awaits in the rehabilitation, but I will do everything to be back next year.

I hope to be able to stand on the podium again in Paris (Olympics) in two years ”.

In addition to three Olympic golds, Wlodarczyk also has four World Cup golds and four European Championship golds on his merit list.
