Star guard Stephen Curry was dominant with 43 points scored when Golden State won the fourth final match.

He was not quite as effective in final match five, the night before Tuesday.

In fact, 34-year-old Curry - who is considered one of the best shooters in NBA history - missed all of his nine three-point attempts.

It is the first time in 233 games that Curry has not scored a three-pointer.

26 points by Wiggings

Lucky then for Golden State that others step forward.

Andrew Wiggins, a former draft pick who has struggled to achieve star status in the league, led the way with 26 points and 13 rebounds in the 104-94 victory.

- The greater the challenge he has faced, the greater he has responded.

You want such a guy on the team.

When the stage gets bigger, they respond and play their best basketball - and that's what he has done, says teammate Draymond Green according to AP.

"Has been fantastic"

Golden States coach Steve Kerr joined the tribute choir:

- He knows how much we need him and he has been fantastic, he says.

First to four wins

Golden State can now secure the NBA title in victory on Friday night, the team's first since 2018, away in Boston.

- We like to be in this situation and we want to take advantage of it, Kerr says according to AFP.

The final series is played in the best of seven matches.

Golden State leads 3-2.
