He had been left ill and forced to retire during the 13th stage of the Tour of Italy.

Good news: Romain Bardet is back in the game.

The Auvergnat announced on Monday its participation in the Tour de France, which will start in Copenhagen on July 1.

A reunion expected since he had not competed in the Grande Boucle in 2021, preferring to focus on the Giro and the Vuelta.

Really excited to announce that I will line up at @LeTour with @TeamDSM.

Can't wait to be at the Grand Depart in Copenhagen in a few weeks @Webex!

This is the ninth time that the native of Brioude has lined up on the Tour.

He notably ranked 2nd in 2016 and 3rd in 2017. He won three stages there as well as the polka dot jersey in 2019. Bardet will be one of the centerpieces of the DSM formation.
